Prospective Students Eligibility Profile for Haines City High School’s IB Programme

In order to attend IB, a student must apply, and qualify, for one of the limited seats during the District Open Enrollment period during their eighth-grade year.

·         Middle School GPA of a 3.5 or higher

·         Have qualifying standard assessment scores

·         Live in the HCHS IB zone (East Side of Polk County – see zoning below.)


Students zoned for the following high schools are eligible to attend the Haines City IB Programme:

  • Haines City High
  • Ridge Community High
  • Lake Region High
  • Winter Haven High
  • Auburndale High
  • Tenoroc High
  • Lake Gibson High


Application for IB Programmes Opens January 4, 2022

The PRIORITY Open Enrollment period for the 2022-2023 school year will be January 4th, 2022, through 4:00pm on February 18th, 2022. Current 8th or 9th grade students, who are not already in this high school program, can apply during the Open Enrollment window.

For a student to be accepted into this program, the parent must apply during the Open Enrollment window, and the student must be registered to take a computerized district assessment. The student must qualify into this program by scoring high enough on the district assessment.

A link to the Open Enrollment electronic application will be posted January 4thAfter completing the electronic application, parents will then be able to register for one specific assessment session for their child through Parent Portal. A list of the available specific dates and locations of the assessment is provided below.

Depending on the location of a student’s residency, students and families need to be aware of the additional time commitment involved in utilizing district transportation.
